Oral and Maxillofacial Dentistry

The Departmental Simple Operative Unit (D.S.O.U.) for Oral and Maxillofacial Dentistry, located on the 2nd floor of the "Giovanni Paolo II" outpatient clinic, provides both clinical and surgical services under Day-Service and standard inpatient care for patients with conditions affecting the oral cavity.

Patients can access the D.S.O.U. for Dentistry by calling the Appointment Center (CUP) at +39 0882 416888 and presenting a referral for an initial dental consultation.

The clinical and surgical activities of the Oral and Maxillofacial Dentistry unit are conducted under both Day-Service and standard inpatient care protocols and primarily focus on:

• Initial dental consultations
• Oral and maxillofacial surgery
• Orthodontics
• Diagnosis and treatment of oral mucosal pathology
• Multidisciplinary consultations for temporomandibular joint disorders
• Multidisciplinary pediatric consultations

The oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures include:

• Tooth or root extraction
• Wisdom tooth extraction
• Removal of maxillary cysts
• Osteointegrated dental implant surgery
• Bone regeneration procedures
• Oral mucosal biopsy
• Apicoectomy
• Frenectomy, along with other treatments addressing oral cavity pathologies

Surgical procedures are performed under both DAY-SERVICE  and STANDARD INPATIENT CARE protocols.

DAY SERVICE is an outpatient care package that allows patients, after completing their dental consultation, to undergo diagnostic tests (e.g., panoramic radiographs and coagulation tests), specialized surgical procedures, and follow-up visits.

STANDARD INPATIENT CARE is provided to ensure the health and safety of vulnerable or non-cooperative patients.
