Radiology - Outpatient Clinic
The Radiology department provides outpatient diagnostic imaging services for both adult and pediatric patients using the following modalities: Digital Radiology, CT (Computed Tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), and Ultrasound.
Patients have multiple options for retrieving and viewing their examination results and reports, including online access or in-person collection at the reception desk located on the ground floor of the outpatient clinic.
The Outpatient Clinic Radiology is equipped with the following advanced technologies:
- Skull
- Chest and rib cage
- Upper limbs
- Lower limbs
- Pelvis
- Spine
- Abdomen
- Dental arches
- Facial bones
- Temporomandibular joints
The facility is equipped with a multi-slice CT scanner.
Examinations can be performed with or without the administration of iodinated contrast agents.
The anatomical areas covered include:
- Brain, facial bones, and neck
- Chest and abdomen
- Spine and musculoskeletal system
- Angio-CT
- Dentascan for dental arches
The facility is equipped with two high-field MRI scanners (1.5 Tesla), providing advanced imaging capabilities.
Examinations can be performed with or without the administration of paramagnetic contrast agents.
The anatomical regions assessed include:
- Brain, brainstem, spinal cord, facial bones, neck, intracranial vascular structures, and supra-aortic trunks (Angio-MRI).
- Thorax, upper abdomen, lower abdomen, pelvic cavity, aorta (Angio-MRI), and biliary tree (MR cholangiography).
- Spine, shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist, hand, pelvis, hip joint, femur, thigh, leg, knee, ankle, and foot.
The facility features two innovative ultrasound systems offering high diagnostic accuracy.
The anatomical regions assessed include:
- Neck
- Upper and lower abdomen
- Thyroid
- Salivary glands
- Musculoskeletal system (muscle and tendons)
- Superficial and soft tissues
The Diagnostic Breast Imaging Unit is located on the +1 floor of the "Giovanni Paolo II" Outpatient Clinic at Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza.
The service offers a range of diagnostic tests and imaging procedures for the early detection and evaluation of breast pathologies, including:
- Comprehensive breast examination (clinical assessment, mammography, and breast ultrasound)
- Mammography
- Breast ultrasound
- Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and biopsy
- Ductal galactography
- Stereotactic and ultrasound-guided Mammotome biopsy
- CESM (Contrast-Enhanced Spectral Mammography)
- Breast MRI, including unilateral, bilateral, and cases involving implants.
