Msgr. Franco Moscone
Born in Alba, in the province of Cuneo, Father Franco Moscone joined the Seminary of the Ligurian-Piedmont Province of the Somascan Clerics after completing his secondary education.
He pursued theological studies in Rome at the Pontifical Athenaeum of Sant’Anselmo, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in theology. He made his perpetual profession on September 26, 1982, and was ordained a priest on June 16, 1984, in Alba. In 1983, he served as mentor and spiritual guide to seminarians in San Mauro Torinese. In 1991, he graduated with a degree in Literature from the University of Turin.
In 1992, he was appointed as a teacher and mentor to university students at the Emiliani College in Genoa-Nervi. On September 1, 1995, he became Superior of the Toruń House in Poland, a role he held through successive reappointments in 1996 and 1999. In 1998, he was reconfirmed as Provincial Delegate for Poland, and in 2000, he was named Superior of the Emiliani College Community in Genoa-Nervi, with his term extended in 2002. That same year, he was elected Vicar Provincial of the Ligurian-Piedmont Province. In 2005, he was elected Vicar General and First Counselor of the congregation.
In 2008, he was elected Superior General of the Congregation of the Somascan Clerics, a position to which he was reelected in 2011 and again in 2017.
On November 3, 2018, his appointment as Archbishop of the Diocese of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo was officially announced.
Since 2019, he has served as President of the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza Foundation and as General Director of Padre Pio’s Prayer Groups.
